Art. Nature. Wellness. Water.

Living Bayfront at Miami Seaquarium is a new chapter for Miami Seaquarium, which remains a family-friendly, marine-focused attraction centered on its aquarium. Around it, a dynamic destination for residents and visitors, built around nature, wellness, and water, where science and culture become part of everyday life along the bay. Terra’s commitment to embracing a legacy moment for Miami-Dade is what drives the passion behind this project.

01

Public Access
for Everyone

Public access that doesn’t exist today.

A kayaker paddling on Biscayne Bay with the Miami skyline behind.

A free, accessible baywalk, kayak launch, and public marina slips will open this shoreline to the public for the first time ever, with recreation, gathering, and cultural programming that give our community everyday reasons to return.

02

Restoration
by Design

Restoration, not new disturbance.

Restored shoreline and native coastal vegetation along the beach on Virginia Key.

The upland footprint and marina basin are already dredged and filled land, so the project restores damaged habitat rather than disturbing pristine bay bottom.

03

Independently
Verified

A net-positive ledger, independently verified.

A diver documenting a sea turtle over a coral reef with an underwater camera.

Seagrass, coral, shoreline, and water-quality outcomes will be measured against published baselines set by University of Miami Rosenstiel School researchers, not by the developer.

04

Built with
the Community

Shaped by the people who know the water.

Neighbors and community members gathered on Virginia Key.

Anglers, boaters, conservationists, and neighbors are shaping the plan, from marina scale and vessel mix to channel markers and slow-speed zones, not reacting to a finished design.

05

Accountable,
Not Just Ambitious

Commitments anyone can check.

Aerial view of boats on Biscayne Bay off Virginia Key, with the Rickenbacker Causeway and the Miami skyline beyond.

Clean Marina certification, published monitoring data, and support for a cumulative review of all Virginia Key marina proposals mean the commitments are checkable.

Honoring Our
Historic Legacy

A new chapter for Miami Seaquarium, which remains a family-friendly, marine-focused attraction centered on its aquarium, with its iconic Buckminster Fuller dome and Flipper House preserved and no marine mammals on display.

The Flipper House

A beloved piece of Miami history: preserved, accessible, and connected to the public baywalk and landscape.

Restoring Ecosystems. Building Resilience.

Nature-based solutions for a stronger Biscayne Bay.

Coral Rescue

Colonies rescued and grown out offsite, then returned to seed the new living seawall.

Seagrass Meadows

Relocated before construction and replanted as restored flats come online.

Steady State Sponge

About 1M gallons of stormwater and 250M gallons of bay water polished every day.

Native Habitat Focus

No marine mammals on display. Education centers on the bay’s native habitats instead.

Held to Florida’s Clean Marina standard

Measurable goals. Transparent reporting. Independent baselines set by University of Miami Rosenstiel School researchers. A healthier bay, year after year.
